Where a property has a hip ended roof (i.e. 3 slopes – 1 to the front, 1 to the back and 1 to the side) continuing the existing ridgeline and forming a gabled wall over the existing side flank wall has a pleasing natural appearance, together with creating the largest of any internal floor layout designs possible.
Most Gable conversions are constructed in combination with Rear Dormers, although it is perfectly feasible to construct a new gable wall without neccessarily building a Rear Dormer simultaneously. This type of Gable conversion will maximise the width of your new room and will provide ample roof slopes for rooflight windows providing light and ventilation to a new eaved loft room.
These conversions are normally carried out where Permitted Development rights apply. Occasionally, we are also able to build them with Town & Country Planning approval. The overall size will usually provide opportunity for us to construct up to two rooms and a shower room/bathroom for your enjoyment.
